2025 House Cross Country
As a school community, we gathered on our school grounds for our House Cross Country event on Thursday 29 May.
The children had been excitedly preparing for Cross Country in the weeks prior by taking part in Recess Run Club for up to four days each week.
“Congratulations to those students who have been participating consistently,” says Mrs Denneman, our physical education teacher. “Your efforts helped to stand you in good stead on the day and make the task much easier.”
Year Four and Year Five students completed a 1.5 kilometre circuit, beginning and finishing on our school oval, with the course taking them outside the staff carpark gates and around the perimeter of the school.
The Year Six students ran the same course extended to a distance of 2.5 kilometres.
Students aged from Pre Primary to Year Two completed their run within the school grounds.
To prepare Year Three children for next year, and in keeping with their running capabilities, their one kilometre course took them around the perimeter of the school.
Congratulations to the top five place getters in each division from Years Four, Five and Six who have been selected to represent Assumption Catholic Primary School at the Interschool Cross Country event taking place in term three.
All competitors received a certificate of completion upon finishing their race with ribbons for the first four place getters.
Champion and Runner Up Medals were presented to the Year Four to Six students for their relevant competitive events at a special assembly held at the Presentation Centre, along with the anticipation and excitement of the overall House Winners being announced.
At the end of the day, and to acknowledge the personal best efforts of all students, we celebrated over a ‘Zooper Dooper’.

“All competitors have shown resilience personally and great House Spirit,” says Mrs Denneman.
Year Six House Captains did a fabulous job assisting the younger age group races as course marshals. Thank you to our ‘Budding Leaders’ from Year Five for their assistance with the Year Six race too.
A huge thank you to everyone for your efforts to ensure the children had a positive experience with the House Cross Country, including the parents who assisted with Course Marshal responsibilities, and to the many parents and friends who came along to cheer everyone on.
